Thirty years on from their debut single, Glasgow's Mogwai remain one of the most singular and uncompromising bands in the world. Built on a sound that fuses brute sonic force with subtlety and grace, they have spent three decades defining a musical language entirely their own, growing from cult heroes into an institution. Their tenth album As The Love Continues debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, earned a Mercury Prize nomination and won the Scottish Album of the Year.

Their eleventh album The Bad Fire, produced by John Congleton at Chem19 studios in Scotland, draws its name from a Scottish colloquialism for Hell and its inspiration from a period of tough personal reckoning. The result is a collection of songs that forgo nostalgia for forward motion, containing, as DIY noted, "some of the most euphoric music they have ever made." As Under The Radar observed: "To retain the power to surprise and delight when entering its fourth decade is something few bands can claim."

Mogwai play QPAC for Open Season, performing songs from across thirty years of one of the great discographies in contemporary music. For the uninitiated and the devoted alike.

Open Season is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland's Strategic Partnerships Fund, and by the Australian Government through the Office for the Arts Revive Live program.
